Just dropping in to ask all my oh-so-smart LJ buddies a question:

In the context of internet lingo, what the hell does "FTW" mean?

Because in my biker/skinhead oriented life, it has always meant either "fuck the world" or "forever truly white." And the first time I saw someone post it online, I was all.. "meh? What the fuck does fangirling over Jeff Hardy have to do with being white?" LOL. But now everyone says it!

I looked it up and found that when related to the internet, it most often means "for the win." And that makes sense in some posts, but it still confuses me. Is there some other definition that I've been kept in the dark about?!

It makes my brain hurt.

lol actually, I always thought it meant "Fuck the what"
and it was just a backwards American thing. But I caught on its real meaning by reading wrestling blogs.
I think another one that caught me was LLC = Laughing Like Crazy. For ages, I used to try and decipher Matt's blogs with it.
Its not "living life casually" as the Wiki told me. lol

well, i had always seen it used on LJ and had no clue what it meant..until i asked someone who had used it and they told me it meant "fuck the world" so that's how i use it.

Fuck the what, definitely.

Fuck the world, understandable. But I would still see it as fuck the what, just in a bad context ("Everybody sucks! FTW!!")

Forever Truly White? WTH?? In that case, I should start saying FTB.

LOL, you should! I know "forever truly white" is fucking retarded, but hey, I didn't do it!

Oh, and by the way, I have such a bone to pick with you, woman! How could I not know that you have fic over at some other random journal site?! Like, seriously! The second you discovered me, your comment should have gone something like this: "Oh, hey, cool fic, BUT GO READ MINE NOW!"

I read Anger Management last night, and I think I may have actually died for a moment from laughing so goddamned hard.
